  • When faced with a child’s illness and hospitalization, life stops overnight. Parents can enter a world of fear and worry. When parents don’t live close to the medical care their child needs, there’s an added stress. Most families must travel hours for treatment leaving them far from family and friends while living expenses quickly add up. Long drives, missed time from work, worried siblings, sleeping in cars or hotels only add to the burden. These are things that no family should have to experience. We are dedicated to helping families stay close through the biggest challenge of their lives. We assist with lessening the burden and ensuring that thousands of families a year have the stability and resources they need to stay with their child during their journey. By providing a home for families during a difficult time we help build a community that finds strength, hope and courage in embracing healing as a joyous experience. We opened our doors in 1986 and have closed them once since. Even through the pandemic. It certainly has been a challenging year for us all but even more so for the families we serve. We continued to provide lodging for loved ones while observing safety protocols and social distancing mandates. Families depend on us, and we depend on the thousands of people who have supported us faithfully and who continue to support the RMH of Scranton to ensure that our doors are always open. Help us keep families close for years to come. Please give generously.
