On Friday, September 23, 2022, Friendship House and AllOne Foundation board members had the honor of cutting the Grand Opening ribbon at the official opening of dePaul School/AllOne Foundation Center for Learning Differences. It was a beautiful morning seeing all of the students and teachers explore the halls in their new space.
dePaul School is a private school in Scranton that specializes in education for children with dyslexia and other learning differences. The program gives 1st through 8th graders the support and tools needed to thrive in and out of the classroom. Students and teachers are excited to be heading back to school after the recent announcement that Friendship House, with support from the AllOne Foundation, has restarted the program at a new temporary location at Temple Hesed in Scranton.
“The missions of Friendship House and dePaul School are in harmony. When Friendship House learned of the need for dePaul School to find a home we believed it was our mandate to provide that home so that we could stabilize, nurture and grow the dePaul School and its mission and serve children in need of the specialized teaching techniques throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania.”
The transition was smooth thanks to all those involved. dePaul School principal, Suzanne Rickard, Friendship House’s Chief Financial Officer, Christine Gilroy and Executive Director of Administration, Lauryn Cleveland led the way by orchestrating all of the behind-the-scenes coordination and planning for the Grand Opening.
Susan Rickard, dePaul School Principal “expressed her deep appreciate for the support and commitment of Friendship House and the AllOne Foundation for believing in our mission and understanding the importance of continuing the unique educational opportunities provided to eligible youth in Lackawanna, Luzerne, Wayne, Pike, Wyoming and Susquehanna Counties. On behalf of our teaching staff, the youth we serve and their families, thank you for making our dreams a reality”.
The dePaul School has plans for a more permanent location next year. In the meantime, there are still enrollment opportunities available for the current school year.
