AllOne Charities awarded $25,000 to Dwell Orphan Care to expand The Hope Chest, a program that provides essential resources, comfort items, and family support to children entering foster and kinship care across North Central and Northeastern Pennsylvania. When children are removed from their homes, the transition is often sudden and traumatic, leaving many with few belongings and significant uncertainty. The Hope Chest helps ease that transition by supplying clothing, hygiene products, bedding, diapers, car seats, personalized duffel bags, and other necessities, ensuring children and caregivers receive support within hours of placement.

Since launching in 2020, The Hope Chest has served more than 1,400 children, helping foster and kinship families meet immediate needs while creating a sense of dignity, safety, and belonging during times of crisis. The program also provides family care packages, freezer meals, and other resources designed to reduce stress and strengthen connections between children and caregivers. Rooted in trauma-informed care practices, The Hope Chest recognizes that meeting basic needs is an important first step toward healing, stability, and positive long-term outcomes for children who have experienced loss, disruption, and trauma.

The funding from AllOne Charities is helping Dwell increase capacity, expand services in underserved counties, strengthen volunteer and program coordination systems, and enhance trauma-informed training for staff and volunteers. The grant will also support participation in the 2026 Pennsylvania Permanency Conference, allowing Dwell to bring the latest best practices in foster care, adoption, and permanency support back to the communities it serves. Through this investment, AllOne Charities is helping ensure that every child entering foster or kinship care is met with compassion, practical support, and a powerful reminder that they are valued, cared for, and deserving of hope.
