Brighter Journeys was awarded a $125,000 Grant from the AllOne Foundation to continue its mission of providing support and resources to the special needs community through its Going the Extra Mile Grant program.
Brighter Journeys, a non-profit organization, was founded in 2016 by two mothers of children with special needs who have first hand experience of the challenges and resource gaps that exist in the lives of individuals with special needs and their families. The organization reaches individuals with complex medical and/or congenial conditions, learning and ability differences such as Autism or Down Syndrome, traumatic brain injuries, and degenerative diseases by providing outreach and resources that reduce the limits of these conditions and allow affected individuals to experience life to the fullest extent possible.
Lisa Urbanski, President of Brighter Journeys “By the time families reach out to us, they have often experienced frustration, exhaustion and even heartbreak trying to obtain resources that would drastically improve their quality of life. Thus, Brighter Journeys seeks to provide comfort and relief through caring words of experience and informed action. One of the actions we take is to provide grants to families that request resources that they cannot afford or for which medical insurance will not cover. Through this grant from AllOne Foundation, we will be able to fulfill substantially more requests as quickly as possible so that no family is deprived of the improved quality of life and dignity that these resources provide. The grant from AllOne will help with the day-to-day expenses of Brighter Journeys as well as a large portion going directly into our Going the Extra Mile Fund.” A Resource Guide is available on the website with specific information on services provided to the special needs community.
