As part of its 10th Anniversary Founders’ Impact Awards, AllOne Foundation awarded $100,000 to River Valley Health & Dental Center, who utilized the funding to launch their Food Farmacy, an innovative program designed to address food insecurity while improving health outcomes for patients. Developed in partnership with the New Love Center, the Food Farmacy connects patients experiencing food insecurity with nutritious foods, health education, and ongoing support. The program officially launched on August 13th and immediately demonstrated its value, serving more than 50 patients during its first distribution and providing fresh produce, dairy products, meats, cereals, canned goods, and other healthy staples.
Food insecurity remains a significant barrier to health for many individuals and families, particularly those managing chronic conditions. By integrating nutrition support into healthcare services, the Food Farmacy helps patients access the healthy foods they need to support disease management, improve overall wellness, and reduce the challenges associated with limited food access. Participants are identified through provider referrals and food insecurity screenings, ensuring that assistance reaches those most in need.
The success of the program’s initial launch has generated strong community interest and reinforced the need for continued expansion. River Valley Health and the New Love Center have established monthly food distributions for the remainder of the year, with plans to increase distributions to twice monthly beginning in January. Through the Founders’ Impact Award, AllOne Foundation is helping to create a sustainable model that addresses the intersection of nutrition and health, empowering individuals and families to build healthier lives while strengthening community well-being across the region.
