Staff and Board Leadership of AllOne Foundation & Charities were honored to be in attendance during the announcement event as Hazleton Area High School officially received its banner recognition as a Special Olympics Unified Champion School. This national program is spearheaded by the Special Olympics and recognizes schools that demonstrate a culture of inclusiveness by meeting over 10 standards of excellence, only 146 schools were chosen this year throughout the county.
Hazleton Area High School is one of only four schools in Pennsylvania selected this year to receive recognition from the Special Olympics, it also is the first school in Luzerne County ever to receive this honor. The dedication ceremony was well attended by community leaders, government officials, members of the student body, and the impressive Hazleton Area marching band! AllOne Foundation & Charities is proud to support this initiative and congratulates Hazleton Area High School on this prestigious distinction which celebrates the “best of the best” of inclusive school communities.

The Special Olympics website states “A Special Olympics Unified Champion School has an inclusive school climate and exudes a sense of collaboration, engagement and respect for all members of the student body and staff. A Unified Champion School receiving national banner recognition is one that has demonstrated commitment to inclusion by meeting 10 national standards of excellence…The primary activities within these standards include: Special Olympics Unified Sports® (where students with and without disabilities train and compete as teammates), Inclusive Youth Leadership and Whole-School Engagement.
