AllOne Charities partnered with Wyoming County Community Health Foundation to award $9,000 to the Northern Tier Industry and Education Consortium (NTIEC) to support initiatives that create positive workforce pathways for youth. Through this program, Wyoming County students in grades 8-12 can engage with local healthcare employers and post-secondary institutions to gain firsthand insight into career opportunities and educational pathways.
During the summer of 2024, NTIEC provided 18 students with a weeklong healthcare experience and 16 students experienced job shadowing with professionals in fields such as EMS, cardiology, infectious disease, physical therapy, orthopedics, nursing and primary care. NTIEC also partnered with NEPA AHEC to host a regional healthcare career exploration event with over 400 regional students and 40 employers who spoke about healthcare careers. Wayne Memorial Hospital, Endless Mountains Health Systems and Barnes-Kasson County Hospital enrolled a total of 18 students in externship programs. NTIEC also provided 3 school districts and 244 students with presentations on healthcare pathways. Several of these students applied for college in the fall in healthcare fields.
NTIEC’s career education programs play a vital role in workforce development, ensuring that local employers can attract, train, and retain skilled professionals to meet the growing demands of the healthcare industry.
